Day 291 October 18

In 5th line on October 18, 2009 at 8:23 am

“It should make you shake and sweat, nightmare you, strand you in a desert of irrevocable desolation, the consequences seared into the vein, no matter what adrenaline feeds the muscle its courage, no matter what god shines down on you, no matter what crackling pain and anger you carry in your fists, my friend, it should break your heart to kill.”~~from the poem “Sadiq” in the anthology Here, Bullet by Brian Turner

OK, so this is a one-line poem from page 56. BUT, Turner’s anthology is one of the most honest looks at America’s occupation in Iraq. Check out all the poems in this collection, but especially the title poem. Amazing!
