“The regime will reconstitute itself at Hangchow beginning in 1120, paying huge tributes to the new rulers in the North.”~~The Food Chronology: A Food Lover’s Compendium of Events and Anecdotes, From Prehistory to the Present by James Trager

This informative book rests in the bookshelf on my desk. It’s one of my go-to books when I’m writing about food or food history or even on those occasions when I’m trying to tie together events for an article or novel. There are over 13,000 entries in varying areas involving food, ranging from production to transportation, to marketing. If you’re a food lover, food writer, or history buff, this book’s for you.

“Here are my suggestions: Read great books: Like tasting, reading is a pleasurable way to increase your knowledge.”~~Will Write for Food by Dianne Jacob

This is one of my favorite go-to books to rev up my descriptive writing. Great ideas for writing about restaurants, cookbooks, food articles, and memoir. Plus, it won the 2005 Cordon d’Or award! If you’re a food writer, or if you want to be a food writer, you should check out this book.
